This year&#8217;s theme is &#8220;Tourism and Peace,&#8221; with Georgia being the host country for the global celebrations. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of Tripura&#8217;s natural environment and religious tourism as key attractions, mentioning prominent destinations like the Tripura Sundari Temple, Kasba Kali Temple, and Mahamuni Pagoda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Saha discussed ongoing initiatives to enhance the state&#8217;s tourism infrastructure, including the development of Matabari in Udaipur, the launch of log huts in Narikel Kunja and Dumbur, and the construction of modern facilities at various tourist spots. He noted that tourism is not only a major source of employment but also plays a critical role in poverty alleviation and the economic prosperity of communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the support of central government schemes, the state has completed infrastructure development projects at several tourist destinations, including Agartala, Melaghar, Udaipur, and Dumbur. Plans to transform the Tripura Sundari Temple into a spiritual tourism hub under the &#8220;Prasad&#8221; scheme are also nearing completion. Additionally, the Surmachhara Waterfalls in Kamalpur has recently been inaugurated as a new tourist attraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Saha also mentioned collaboration with the Asian Development Bank for further infrastructure development in tourist spots like Chabimura and the Kasba Kali Temple. Furthermore, the state government has signed an MoU for constructing ropeways at several locations, including Matabari and Jampui Hills, with an investment of \u20b9692 crores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury echoed the Chief Minister&#8217;s sentiments, stating that tourism opens doors to new experiences and economic opportunities. The state has roped in former cricketer Sourav Ganguly as its brand ambassador to elevate Tripura&#8217;s profile on the global tourism map. Chowdhury also praised Ganguly&#8217;s contribution of \u20b910 lakh for flood relief efforts in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event also recognized local heroes for their bravery during the recent floods.
