Agartala, July 1, 2024<\/strong> \u2014 On National Doctor’s Day, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha paid homage to Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, celebrating his contributions to the medical field. Speaking at the Rabindra Centenary Building, the Chief Minister highlighted Dr. Roy’s legacy and noted that such luminaries remain a perpetual source of inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Saha underscored the state government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services in Tripura. \u201cWe are striving to develop Tripura into a medical hub. Significant initiatives have already been undertaken to improve healthcare infrastructure,\u201d he stated. He also mentioned that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has recently approved a funding of \u20b9515 crore for five major projects, three of which focus on healthcare infrastructure:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • De-Addiction Center in Bishramganj<\/strong>: \u20b9121 crore allocation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    In addition, the Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital has received approval for 20 Diplomate of National Board (DNB) seats across four departments under the National Board of Examinations. A new digital service called ‘Mera Hospital’ has been launched to enhance patient experience. Furthermore, a 40-seat General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course has been introduced at the Tripura Institute of Paramedical Sciences College and School of Nursing. The intake for the MBBS course at Agartala Government Medical College has also been increased from 100 to 150 seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Other notable speakers at the event included Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha and Special Secretary of the Health Department Dr. Brahmita Kaur. Dr. Sanjeeb Debbarma, Director of Health Services, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Souvik Debbarma, Joint Director of Health Services, expressed the vote of thanks. The Mission Director of the National Health Mission’s Tripura branch, Rajib Dutta, was also in attendance. In honor of National Doctor’s Day, ten senior and five junior doctors from the state were recognized for their exceptional contributions, receiving commemorative gifts from the Chief Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
