The lender&#8217;s 25-member executive board confirmed his appointment last night, and he will take over from outgoing chief David Malpass on June 2 for a five-year term.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3536 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/aguli.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/NPIC-20235481040.jpg\" alt=\"Indian-American Ajay Banga announced as the next President of the World Bank\" width=\"750\" height=\"472\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Banga, <a href=\"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2023\/05\/04\/state-to-get-homeopathic-medical-college-soon-cm-prof-dr-saha\/\"><strong>who was nominated for the post by US President<\/strong><\/a> Joe Biden in February, will be tasked with revamping the <strong>World Bank<\/strong> to address issues such as climate change and other global crises. He previously served as the CEO of Mastercard before stepping down earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The 63-year-old was the only candidate for the role and his appointment marks the first time an Indian Origin\u00a0 has held the position.
