Agartala, November 8:<\/strong> Swarnakamal Jewellers organised the second edition of its annual social welfare programme, \u2018Swarna Jyoti Initiative 2026\u2019, at Agartala Press Club on Sunday, extending support to 11 women from rural communities by providing sewing machines and covering their complete training expenses.

The initiative aims to empower women through skill development and create opportunities for sustainable livelihoods, financial independence and self-reliance. First launched last year, the programme is being continued as an annual initiative to reach more deserving women across the state.

The sewing machines were handed over to the beneficiaries by Gopal Chandra Nag, Founder of Swarnakamal Jewellers, and Juhili Debbarma, Brand Ambassador of the jewellery brand, in the presence of media representatives and other guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, Gopal Chandra Nag extended Diwali greetings and expressed happiness over continuing the initiative for the second consecutive year. He emphasised the importance of social responsibility and creating meaningful opportunities for women to develop skills and become financially independent.

Brand Ambassador Juhili Debbarma described her association with the initiative as a privilege and appreciated Swarnakamal Jewellers for continuing the programme and supporting women from rural backgrounds.

The company also acknowledged the contribution of The Smile Foundation, an NGO that conducted research and identified deserving beneficiaries to ensure that the assistance reached women in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 11 beneficiaries of this year’s initiative include Bani Hrangkhawl, Sibani Debbarma, Namaia Debbarma, Ashima Hrangkhawl, Anima Das (Shil), Khushbu Thapa, Sundori Debbarma, Shipra Das, Jonaki Sutradhar, Momi Datta and Kabita Bhil.

Through the Swarna Jyoti Initiative, Swarnakamal Jewellers aims to strengthen its connection with society by extending its contribution beyond business activities. The organisation has expressed its commitment to continuing the programme in the coming years and supporting more women through skill development and livelihood opportunities.
