Agartala, Nov 7:<\/strong> The Tripura government has constituted two committees to examine land-related issues and educational reforms in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), following discussions with Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Revenue Department issued a notification on November 6, setting up a committee to examine various land-related issues in the autonomous council area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee will be convened by the Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department, while the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TTAADC will be a member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other members include the Secretaries of the Home and Revenue departments, Additional Secretary of the Revenue Department, Director of Land Records and Settlement, Principal Officer of Land Records and Settlements, TTAADC, and Principal Officer (Law), TTAADC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcoming the move, Debbarma said in a social media post that the formation of the joint committee had been agreed upon during discussions with the authorities concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the demand for land rights was aimed at protecting the identity of indigenous communities, safeguarding their future and securing the rights of coming generations, and was not directed against anyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation must guide this process,” he said, stressing the need to consult all stakeholders and address their concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a separate notification issued on the same day, the Education (School) Department constituted another committee to examine the merger of schools with very low enrolment under TTAADC into quality residential schools and rationalisation of teachers in the council area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee will be convened by the Secretary of the School Education Department. Its members include the TTAADC CEO, Secretary of the Home Department, Directors of Elementary Education and SCERT, Additional CEO (Education), TTAADC, and Principal Officer (Education), TTAADC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Debbarma welcomed the initiative, saying the establishment of quality residential schools across the council area was among the key demands raised before the state and Central governments over the past two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stressed the need for improved infrastructure, quality learning environments and opportunities for children in tribal areas to compete at the highest levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The notifications came shortly after the Village Committee elections, in which the BJP and Tipra Motha contested jointly following an intervention by the BJP’s central leadership to improve coordination between the two allies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two parties had joined hands ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and subsequently signed a tripartite agreement, popularly known as the Tiprasa Accord. Its implementation has remained a key political demand of Tipra Motha.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
