Agartala, Nov 4: Seventy rural youths from Tripura have begun a 90-day skill development programme under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0, aimed at improving their employability and connecting them with job opportunities in the organised sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme was formally launched through a Batch Freezing Ceremony at the training centre of CLR Facilities Pvt Ltd in Khayerpur, Agartala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The participants, drawn from different districts of the state, have been enrolled in two batches of the Retail Sales Associate course. The training is designed to equip them with industry-oriented skills and prepare them for employment in the retail and service sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the residential training model, the trainees will receive free accommodation, meals, study materials, uniforms and tablets, along with other educational support. Separate hostel facilities have been arranged for male and female participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials said the initiative seeks to equip rural youth with practical skills and improve their access to sustainable employment opportunities beyond their immediate surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After completing the course, the participants will be eligible for placement opportunities in organised retail outlets, shopping malls, airports and other customer service-oriented establishments across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme was attended by Tarit Kanti Chakma, Chief Executive Officer of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and Chief Operating Officer (Skills), along with the state head of CLR Facilities Pvt Ltd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the ceremony, the newly enrolled trainees were handed books, uniforms, tablets and other learning materials required for the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials said DDU-GKY 2.0 focuses on bridging the gap between rural job seekers and industry requirements through market-oriented training aligned with employers’ needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scheme also aims to expand access to organised-sector employment, promote economic self-reliance and help young people from rural backgrounds secure stable wage-based livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest batch is part of Tripura’s ongoing efforts to strengthen skill development initiatives and improve employment prospects for rural youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
