According to allegations raised by the contractor&#8217;s site manager, Saurabh Deb, construction materials stored at the site for contractor Ajit Kumar Shil of Amarpur were allegedly stolen, while structures built to protect the river embankment were also vandalised.<br><br>The contractor has reportedly suffered an estimated loss of around \u20b910.5 lakh. Speaking to reporters, site manager Saurabh Deb alleged that 260 steel shuttering plates, 200 bags of cement and 400 feet of stone chips were stolen from the site.<br><br>He further alleged that some unruly youths associated with a particular political party had demanded a substantial amount of money. According to the allegation, the incident occurred after the contractor failed to pay the demanded amount on time. However, these claims have not been independently verified.<br><br>The incident has raised concerns about the security of materials used in government-funded development projects and the effectiveness of local administrative oversight.<br><br>A written complaint has been filed at Manu Bazar Police Station. Following receipt of the complaint, police reportedly visited the site to inspect the situation.<br><br>It remains to be seen whether the police will identify those responsible and take appropriate legal action.
