Tripura, 08 Oct 2026:<\/strong> Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today inaugurated the Tripura Government Homeopathic Medical College and Netaji Subhash Homeopathic Hospital at Renters Colony in Agartala, marking a significant expansion of medical education and healthcare infrastructure in the state.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Manik Saha said the state government has been working to expand opportunities for medical education within Tripura so that students and guardians no longer have to bear the high costs of sending students outside the state. With the establishment of the new Homeopathic Medical College, opportunities in the field of medical education have expanded further, he said. An Ayurvedic Hospital is also expected to be opened soon.

The Chief Minister said that in the past, students from Tripura had limited opportunities to pursue medical education within the state and often had to travel outside the state at considerable expense. Today, with the establishment of medical colleges and other institutions, students can pursue courses including MBBS, Dental, Nursing and BHMS within Tripura. He added that opportunities to pursue Ayurvedic medical education will also be expanded in the coming days.

He said the state government believes in delivering through action and is working to fulfil the commitments made to the people. The government aims to earn the trust and confidence of citizens through its development initiatives, he added.

Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha further said that apart from government medical colleges, more institutions are expected to come up through private initiatives. The Shija Group will establish an advanced medical college and hospital in Tripura with an investment of around Rs. 700 crore.

According to the Chief Minister, the establishment of medical colleges and healthcare institutions at different locations is creating new opportunities for local people and strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the state. He added that a medical college will also be established in Dhalai district in the coming days.

The Chief Minister said Tripura has made significant progress in healthcare and other sectors under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also stressed the importance of maintaining peace, harmony and a stable law-and-order situation for the state’s continued development.

He said the peaceful environment in Tripura has helped attract private investment, with investors coming forward with commitments of around Rs. 1.32 lakh crore. He also described the first batch of students and the first faculty members of the Homeopathic Medical College as fortunate to be part of the institution’s beginning.

Highlighting developments in the field of Homeopathy, the Chief Minister said modern technology is also being incorporated into the system. He encouraged students to embrace challenges, saying that taking on challenges is essential for developing skills and gaining experience in the medical profession.

Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Manika Das Datta attended the programme as the special guest. Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, the guest of honour, said that healthcare infrastructure in the state has improved significantly and attributed the positive transformation to the visionary approach of the Chief Minister.

Among others present were AMC Commissioner Saju Vaheed A., Director of Health Services Dr. Debashree Debbarma, Director of Tripura Medical Education Dr. H.P. Sharma, and Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Dr. Anjan Das.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Abhijit Chattopadhyay, Principal of Tripura Government Homeopathic Medical College and Netaji Subhash Homeopathic Hospital.
