{"id":26989,"date":"2026-10-06T16:23:52","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T16:23:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=26989"},"modified":"2026-10-06T16:23:54","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T16:23:54","slug":"tripura-biodiversity-plan-to-balance-conservation-development-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/10\/06\/tripura-biodiversity-plan-to-balance-conservation-development-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Tripura biodiversity plan to balance conservation, development: Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Agartala, October 6:<\/strong> Tripura is working on a biodiversity strategy aimed at strengthening conservation of its natural resources while ensuring that developmental activities remain compatible with ecological protection, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Debbarma made the remarks while inaugurating a state-level consultation workshop on conservation, protection and sustainable management of biodiversity at Pragna Bhaban here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The workshop, organised by the Tripura Biodiversity Board, brought together scientists, environmental experts, members of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs), representatives of local communities and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The consultation was held to discuss the finalisation of the Tripura Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (SBSAP), which is expected to provide a long-term framework for protecting the state&#8217;s biological resources and promoting their sustainable use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to reporters, Debbarma said Tripura&#8217;s biodiversity was an important natural asset and its protection required participation from government departments, experts, scientific institutions and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He stressed the need for harmonious coexistence between people and nature, including wildlife, forests, rivers and water bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minister said the government would seek to further strengthen Tripura&#8217;s image as a green state while ensuring that development does not come at the cost of ecological balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed biodiversity strategy will incorporate suggestions and field-level inputs from scientists, experts, BMC members and local communities, Debbarma said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also urged government employees and other stakeholders to adopt innovative approaches to environmental challenges and move beyond routine administrative practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Government personnel, he said, should use the opportunities available to them to experiment with new ideas, undertake pilot initiatives and develop practical solutions based on local requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Debbarma called upon BMCs and local communities to actively participate in biodiversity conservation and identify solutions that can be implemented at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He assured stakeholders that innovative proposals and meaningful initiatives would be given due consideration within the government framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The consultation provided a platform for participants to share their experiences and suggestions, which could be incorporated into the final action plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials said the SBSAP would seek to strengthen biodiversity conservation, promote sustainable management of natural resources and integrate ecological priorities with development planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strategy is expected to provide a coordinated framework for addressing biodiversity-related challenges and supporting long-term environmental sustainability in the state, they said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agartala, October 6: Tripura is working on a biodiversity strategy aimed at strengthening conservation of its natural resources while ensuring that developmental activities remain compatible with ecological protection, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma said on Tuesday.
