Agartala, October 6: The Agartala West Police Station on Tuesday convened a meeting with Durga Puja organisers and representatives of local organisations to review security and traffic arrangements ahead of the upcoming festive season.

The meeting was held at Muktadhara Hall and attended by representatives of several puja committees, local organisations and police officials.

With Durga Puja and Kali Puja drawing large gatherings, officials discussed measures to maintain law and order, ensure the safety of devotees and visitors, prevent untoward incidents and regulate traffic around puja pandals.

The police emphasised the need for effective coordination among puja committees, the administration, law enforcement agencies and local residents for the smooth conduct of the celebrations.

Officer-in-Charge of West Agartala Police Station, Sanjit Sen, said cooperation from all stakeholders would be essential for ensuring peaceful and orderly festivities.

He appealed to puja organisers and citizens to cooperate with the police and comply with the guidelines issued by the authorities. Such cooperation would help devotees and visitors move freely and safely while visiting puja pandals, he said.

Senior police officials, including SDPO Pannalal Sen, briefed the participants on the security and crowd-management arrangements planned for the festive period.

Police officials said adequate measures would be put in place across the city to maintain peace and order and safeguard devotees and visitors during Durga Puja and Kali Puja.

Traffic management emerged as another key area of discussion. With a substantial increase in footfall expected at prominent puja pandals, officials discussed measures to reduce congestion and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

Puja committees were also advised to follow prescribed safety and administrative guidelines and maintain regular communication with the police and other authorities throughout the festive period.

Officials said the administration would provide necessary assistance to puja organisers but stressed that public participation and cooperation would be equally important in maintaining a safe festive environment.

The meeting was held as Agartala prepares for its annual Durga Puja celebrations, which attract thousands of visitors to pandals across the city.

Police authorities appealed to residents, visitors and puja organisers to celebrate responsibly and cooperate with security personnel.

They said coordinated efforts by the police, administration, puja committees and the public would be crucial to ensuring peaceful, safe and orderly celebrations across Agartala.
