{"id":26968,"date":"2026-10-05T17:47:04","date_gmt":"2026-10-05T17:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=26968"},"modified":"2026-10-05T17:47:42","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T17:47:42","slug":"tmp-appeals-for-peace-after-village-committee-poll-victory-urges-supporters-to-refrain-from-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/10\/05\/tmp-appeals-for-peace-after-village-committee-poll-victory-urges-supporters-to-refrain-from-violence\/","title":{"rendered":"TMP Appeals for Peace After Village Committee Poll Victory, Urges Supporters to Refrain from Violence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tripura, 05 Oct 2026<\/strong>: Tipra Motha Party (TMP) today appealed to its supporters to maintain peace during victory celebrations and ensure that no one is attacked or subjected to violence, stressing that peace was essential for the development of the State.<br><br>Addressing a press conference at Manikya Court here, Minister of State Brishaketu Debbarma urged supporters to celebrate the party\u2019s victories peacefully and refrain from attacking anyone. They said the party\u2019s supporters should maintain restraint after the Village Committee election results and allow the post-election period to remain peaceful in the interest of development.<br><br>The leaders also called upon political parties and their supporters to learn from the peaceful democratic processes followed in Assam, Meghalaya and other northeastern States.<br><br>The appeal came amid reports of sporadic incidents of violence during the counting process in different parts of the state. The TMP leaders expressed grief over the death of polling agent Matilal Karmakar allegedly due to lathi-and assured the party would ensure every possible help for the family of the victim. And called the allegations of the opposition including the ruling ally as outsider interference in the counting process.<br><br>The party leaders said they would again meet the law-and-order administration on Tuesday to discuss the developments during the counting process. They also urged all sides to exercise restraint and ensure that the post-election situation remained peaceful.<br><br>Assessing the election results, TMP leaders claimed that the party was set to secure a decisive position in more than 470 Village Committees as commented before the polls and that its final tally could surpassed 4,000 seats. They thanked voters and congratulated the party\u2019s winning candidates and supporters.<br><br>The leaders credited party founder Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma for the political developments surrounding the Village Committee elections and said the results reflected the aspirations of the indigenous people regarding their rights and identity.<br><br>They said the victory should not be treated merely as an occasion for celebration but as a responsibility to fulfil the commitments made to the people. The party, they added, would continue to pursue its demands through peaceful democratic means.<br><br>Debbarma also criticised the CPI(M) and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, questioning the party\u2019s campaign on the line of disrespecting to the tribal people and claiming that it no longer holds public support and will not able to do anything in the upcoming 2028 Assembly election.<br><br>On development, the leaders said the government should now focus on a clear developmental agenda, including the protection of indigenous identity, culture and heritage.
