Agartala, October 1:<\/strong> Resident doctors of the Government Medical College and GB Pant Hospital staged a sit-in outside the Principal\u2019s office on Wednesday, seeking prompt action from the authorities over security arrangements and the protection of doctors\u2019 professional dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The protest was organised by the Resident Doctors\u2019 Association (RDA) in the wake of an incident involving a senior resident doctor at the Medicine OPD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The association said the episode, followed by the circulation of videos and allegations on social media, had raised concerns among doctors about their safety, privacy and working conditions at the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A number of resident doctors gathered outside the Principal\u2019s office during the morning hours, carrying placards and raising their demands. The association also submitted a five-point memorandum to the college administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The RDA called for the immediate removal of videos related to the incident that are being circulated on social media. It also sought corrections to what it described as misinformation and demanded a public apology, along with steps to prevent unauthorised recording and dissemination of such material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The doctors objected to what they termed a one-sided \u201cmedia trial\u201d of the concerned doctor and said the administration should hear the doctor\u2019s version before arriving at any conclusion or taking action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The association also demanded measures to prevent unauthorised photography and videography inside the hospital. It sought restrictions on filming in wards, outpatient departments and patient service areas without prior permission, citing the need to protect the privacy and security of patients and healthcare personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another demand was for legal action against individuals whom the association alleged had made false accusations against the doctor. The RDA asked the Medical Superintendent to lodge an FIR and initiate proceedings under the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The doctors also pressed for changes in the hospital\u2019s security system.
