Tripura, 29 Sep 2026<\/strong>: A nine-member delegation of the TIPRA Motha Party on Tuesday submitted a deputation to the Tripura State Election Commission, demanding the arrest of those allegedly involved in the shooting incident targeting TIPRA Motha workers in the Gamaria area of Udaipur within 24 hours.

The delegation met State Election Commissioner Anurag Sen at the commission\u2019s office in the Gorkhabasti area of Agartala and urged the authorities to take immediate action against the alleged attackers.

The delegation included TTAADC Chief Executive Member Runiel Debbarma, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, MLA Biswajit Kaloi, MDC Suraj Debbarma, MDC Jiten Debbarma and other party leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to the media after submitting the deputation, MLA Ranjit Debbarma expressed concern over the alleged delay in making arrests following the incident. He questioned the police response and demanded that those responsible be arrested without further delay.

Debbarma alleged that six vehicles had entered a polling station during the incident and that shots were fired, yet no arrests had been made at the time of his statement. He claimed that local residents had identified some of the alleged attackers and said he had shared certain names with the police. These allegations have not been independently verified.

\u201cWe have clearly told the Election Commission to ensure that those involved are arrested within 24 hours, irrespective of who they are,\u201d Debbarma said.

He warned that if the arrests were not made within the stipulated period, the party would hold an internal meeting and announce its next course of action at a press conference. He also said party leaders would visit the affected area to speak with local residents and gather further details about the incident.

Responding to the deputation, the Secretary of the Tripura State Election Commission confirmed that the TIPRA Motha delegation had submitted a written representation regarding the reported shooting incident in the jurisdiction of Matabari block under Udaipur.

The secretary said the commission had been informed of the incident on Monday and acknowledged the party’s demand for immediate action and the arrest of those allegedly involved.

\u201cSince this concerns law and order, we will process the matter so that the necessary action can be taken through the police administration,\u201d the secretary said.

The incident has raised concerns over security arrangements during the TTAADC Village Committee elections.
