During the monsoon, rainwater accumulates on the road, turning it muddy and slippery and making travel difficult. During the dry season, vehicles passing through the unfinished stretches generate large amounts of dust, causing further hardship for commuters and pedestrians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dust is also raising concerns over air pollution, with residents claiming that children, elderly people and those suffering from respiratory problems are particularly affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although different stretches of the road are reportedly being handled by contractors, locals have alleged that adequate arrangements for regular sprinkling of water to control dust are not being maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents said the condition of the road has been brought to the attention of the concerned authorities on several occasions, but the prolonged construction work has left commuters continuing to face difficulties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local people have urged the authorities to expedite the construction and repair work and ensure regular dust-control measures until the project is completed, so that commuters can be spared the recurring problems of mud during the monsoon and dust during the dry season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Khowai, September 26: The Khowai\u2013Kamalpur\u2013Agartala road, including a large stretch around the Subal Singh area, continues to remain in poor condition, causing significant inconvenience to commuters and local residents.
