Shillong, September 25<\/strong>: The Directorate General Assam Rifles has announced the Technical and Tradesman Recruitment Rally 2026 for 354 Group \u2018C\u2019 vacancies across various technical and tradesman categories.

The online application process will begin on September 28, 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications until October 20, 2026. The recruitment rally and enrolment process is scheduled to commence from November 23, 2026.

The recruitment will be conducted on an All India basis, subject to the eligibility criteria prescribed for individual trades. Candidates will have to apply online through the official Assam Rifles recruitment portal.

Among the advertised posts, Warrant Officer (Cipher) accounts for the highest number of vacancies with 124 posts. Other vacancies include Rifleman (Electrical Fitter Signal) 32, Rifleman (Lineman Field) 21, Rifleman (Armourer) 29, Rifleman (Engineer Equipment Mechanic) 10, Rifleman (Recovery Vehicle Mechanic) 13, Rifleman (Electrician Motor Vehicle) 22, Havildar (Instrument Mechanic) six, Rifleman (Metalsmith) 19, Rifleman (Upholster) three, Rifleman Store Keeper Technical 16, Rifleman (Vehicle Mechanic) 23, Rifleman (Welder) two, Warrant Officer (Draughtsman) two, Warrant Officer (Operation Theatre Technician) one, Warrant Officer (Physiotherapist) two and Rifleman (Mason) 29.

The age cut-off date for the recruitment is July 1, 2026. The age limit varies according to the trade, with several Rifleman technical posts carrying an age limit of 18 to 23 years. Warrant Officer (Cipher) has an upper age limit of 25 years, while other specialised posts have separate age requirements as specified in the notification.

Age relaxation will be available to eligible reserved-category candidates and other categories according to government rules. SC\/ST candidates are eligible for five years of relaxation, while OBC candidates are eligible for three years. Separate provisions have also been made for Ex-Servicemen and departmental candidates.

Educational qualifications vary from post to post. Candidates for several technical trades are required to have passed Class 10 or Matriculation along with relevant ITI, technical training or diploma qualifications. Warrant Officer (Cipher) requires 10+2 along with the prescribed technical qualification, while specialised posts such as Draughtsman, Operation Theatre Technician and Physiotherapist require the respective diploma qualifications and prescribed experience.

The selection process will include an RFID-based Physical Standard Test, Physical Efficiency Test, Computer Based Test, Skill or Trade Test, Document Verification and Detailed Medical Examination. A Review Medical Examination will be conducted wherever applicable.

For the Physical Efficiency Test, male candidates from areas other than Ladakh are required to complete a five-kilometre run within 24 minutes. Candidates from the Ladakh region are required to complete a 1.6-kilometre run within seven minutes.

The Computer Based Test will carry 100 marks. Candidates belonging to the General and EWS categories must secure at least 35 per cent marks, while the minimum qualifying mark for SC, ST and OBC candidates is 33 per cent.

Candidates shortlisted for the Trade Skill Test will be assessed through a practical test related to their respective trade. No marks will be awarded for the skill test, and candidates must qualify to proceed to the subsequent stages.

The application fee is \u20b9100 for applicable posts. Scheduled Tribe candidates and Ex-Servicemen are exempted from payment of the application fee, according to the notification.

Candidates are advised to carefully read the complete recruitment notification before applying, as eligibility, age limits, technical qualifications and physical standards differ according to the post.

The Assam Rifles has also cautioned candidates to provide accurate information in their applications. False or incorrect information may lead to cancellation of candidature at any stage. Only one application will be accepted from each candidate.

No travelling allowance or daily allowance will be provided to candidates appearing for the recruitment process. Candidates will have to bear their own travel, boarding and lodging expenses.
