Agartala, September 24:<\/strong> A three-day Neermahal Jal Utsav will be organised in Melaghar from October 7 to 9, with a mix of cultural programmes, traditional sporting events and tourism activities planned around Neermahal and Rudrasagar Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Panchayat Minister Kishor Barman reviewed preparations for the festival at a meeting at the Melaghar Municipal Council conference hall on Thursday. He assessed the arrangements and directed officials to ensure that all required work is completed ahead of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The festival is expected to feature cultural presentations based on Mansamangal<\/em>, besides traditional boat races, swimming competitions and yoga programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Barman said the annual celebration highlights the close relationship between Rudrasagar Lake and the communities living in its vicinity. He pointed to the lake\u2019s connection with local livelihoods, folk traditions and cultural practices that have developed around the water body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The minister said the event would also serve as an avenue to promote Neermahal as a major tourism attraction in Tripura. The historic palace and the surrounding waters of Rudrasagar will provide the setting for programmes showcasing the region\u2019s architectural, cultural and natural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The festival is expected to attract visitors from different parts of the state and beyond.
