Agartala, September 23:<\/strong> More than 2.34 lakh government employees and pensioners in Tripura are set to benefit from an enhanced Durga Puja festival grant, with the state government raising the assistance by Rs 300 across several categories, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the minister, 1,48,501 employees and 85,916 pensioners will receive the revised benefit. The state will spend approximately Rs 47.16 crore on the festival grant this year, of which around Rs 6 crore will be additional expenditure arising from the latest increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The revised rates will see Group C and Group D employees receive Rs 2,400 each, compared with Rs 2,100 last year. Daily-rated workers (DRWs) will also be entitled to Rs 2,400.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Part-time workers (PTWs) and contractual employees will get Rs 2,610, up from Rs 2,310, while pensioners will receive Rs 2,400 against the earlier Rs 2,100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Anganwadi workers, helpers and home guards will receive Rs 2,610. The festival grant for temple purohits has been increased to Rs 2,400 from Rs 2,100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pump operators will now receive Rs 1,350, compared with Rs 1,050 earlier. Part-time workers under the Rural Development and Panchayat departments will also receive Rs 1,350.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Singha Roy announced the revised provisions at a press conference at the Civil Secretariat and said the festival grant had risen steadily from Rs 700 in 2017-18 through periodic revisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said employees belonging to Christian and other religious communities could claim the benefit during their respective festivals. However, the grant would be available only once in a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The state government has also made a provision of Rs 183.87 crore for festival advances.
