Series of Theft Allegations Spark Tension in Nildhan Para"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tripura, 22 Sep 2026:<\/strong> A series of alleged thefts in the Nildhan Para area of North Ekchhari has sparked concern among local residents, with allegations that cash, gold jewellery and other valuables have been stolen from several houses over an extended period.<br><br>According to local residents, even the homes of families associated with the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and police have reportedly been targeted.<br><br>In the latest incident, a theft was allegedly reported at the residence of Mangal Chakma at around 2:40 am last night. The family claimed that approximately 7\u20138 bhori of gold jewellery and \u20b94\u20135 lakh in cash were stolen. Including the value of other belongings, the total loss was alleged to be more than \u20b915 lakh.<br><br>According to the family, the house has two rooms. While family members were sleeping in one room, the other was vacant. The family alleged that cash, gold jewellery and other valuables had been kept in the vacant room.<br><br>They further alleged that two individuals were seen moving around the house and subsequently entered the room after opening the lock. Family members reportedly detained the two suspects and informed the police.<br><br>Following the information, personnel from Chelagang Police Station reached the spot and took Nirmal Debnath and Bipul Debnath, along with an autorickshaw, to the police station for questioning.<br><br>Meanwhile, local residents have also alleged that money has been stolen from the donation box of the Buddha Mandir in Nildhan Para on around eight occasions. Locals have expressed suspicion over a possible connection between the detained individuals and the previous incidents.<br><br>Residents have also raised concerns about the possible involvement of a larger group behind the alleged thefts.
