The allegations have been levelled against a group of miscreants reportedly led by Samir Chowdhury.<br><br>According to Subhash, he had received a contract under the Public Works Department for boulder-related work in the Dwarikapur area under Kalyanpur Police Station. He alleged that since the work began around one-and-a-half months ago, he had repeatedly been asked to pay \u20b910 lakh.<br><br>Subhash alleged that at around 4 pm last Sunday, while he was returning home from the worksite, a group of around 10\u201312 people armed with sticks attacked him near Dwarikapur School.<br><br>He claimed that he could identify several of the alleged attackers, including Pulakesh Dhupi alias Abu, Papon Sarkar, Pritam Shukla Das, Biswajit Ghosh and Bapi Raut, while he could not identify the others.<br><br>The contractor further alleged that even after police personnel reached the spot, he was assaulted and threatened that he would not be allowed to continue his work unless he paid \u20b910 lakh.<br><br>There were also allegations that around eight mobile phones belonging to local residents were damaged when they attempted to record the incident on video.<br><br>Criticising the police response, the injured contractor reportedly approached the court on Tuesday and initiated steps to file a case against the accused.<br><br>The allegations have raised questions over the police administration&#8217;s handling of the incident.
