Five individuals travelling in the vehicle were detained for questioning.<br><br>The incident occurred at approximately 8 PM when police personnel were conducting routine naka checking under the joint leadership of Kamalpur Traffic In-Charge Pankaj Debnath and Kamalpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Suman Acharya.<br><br>According to police sources, a private Bolero bearing registration number <strong>TR 01 CD 0692,<\/strong> travelling from Dharmanagar towards Agartala, was stopped after police found the vehicle suspicious. During the subsequent search, \u20b940 lakh in cash was recovered.<br><br>The detained individuals, reportedly aged between 18 and 33, allegedly informed police that the money was related to a supari (betel nut) business transaction. However, preliminary questioning reportedly revealed inconsistencies in their statements, prompting police to investigate the source of the cash further.<br><br>The five individuals are residents of different parts of Tripura. Police are examining their statements and investigating the origin of the recovered money.<br><br>The seized cash was counted using a currency-counting machine in the presence of Kamalpur DCM Aditi Das, SDPO Sourav Das, police officer Kapil Pal and other police officials and sub-inspectors.<br><br>Police have launched an investigation to determine the source of the \u20b940 lakh, identify the parties involved in the transaction and ascertain whether any wider network is connected to the incident.<br><br>According to police sources, the recovered cash and the five detained individuals will be produced before the court tomorrow.
