{"id":26405,"date":"2026-09-19T09:04:05","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T09:04:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=26405"},"modified":"2026-09-19T09:12:07","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T09:12:07","slug":"tisf-submits-memorandum-to-state-election-commission-alleges-communal-tension-ahead-of-vc-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/09\/19\/tisf-submits-memorandum-to-state-election-commission-alleges-communal-tension-ahead-of-vc-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"TISF Submits Memorandum to State Election Commission, Alleges Communal Tension Ahead of VC Elections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Agartala, September 19, 2026<\/strong>: The Tripura Indigenous Students Federation (TISF) submitted a memorandum to the State Election Commission at Gurkhabasti in Agartala on Saturday, alleging that certain individuals were attempting to create a communal atmosphere and disturb peace and harmony in the state ahead of the upcoming Village Council (VC) elections.<br><br>The delegation included MDC Suraj Debbarma, TISF Town Committee Convenor Amritriang, TWF South District President Swapnati Reang, and other members.<br><br>Speaking to the media, MDC Suraj Debbarma said the memorandum was submitted in response to alleged attempts to create communal tensions between the Chakma and Mog communities in Tripura.<br><br>\u201cWe have come to the State Election Commission and submitted a complaint regarding attempts by certain individuals to create communal tension between communities in Tripura over the past two to three days,\u201d Debbarma said.<br><br>He emphasized that the Tipra Motha party is not against any community, regardless of whether individuals belong to the Chakma, Mog, Manipuri, or any other community.<br><br>\u201cTipra Motha is not against any community. We have always maintained that we are human beings in every sector,\u201d he stated.<br><br>Debbarma also criticized individuals allegedly using slogans such as \u201cBangladeshi Go Back\u201d and \u201cRefugee Go Back,\u201d claiming that such statements could contribute to divisions among communities.<br><br>He urged all stakeholders to allow the VC election process to proceed peacefully, alleging that certain groups were attempting to create divisions between the Mog and Chakma communities for political gain.<br><br>\u201cNow that the VC elections are taking place, at least let the elections happen peacefully,\u201d he said, questioning why some individuals had not raised concerns about the absence of VC elections over the past decade.<br><br>Referring to the role of Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, Suraj Debbarma said the royal scion had pursued the issue of VC elections through legal channels, including the High Court and Supreme Court.<br><br>The MDC further alleged that certain individuals, including political candidates, had been sharing videos that could create tensions between communities during the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.<br><br>He claimed that a video clip featuring the party flag and a rally in Karbook had been combined with a separate voice recording and circulated to portray the party negatively.<br><br>\u201cWe have submitted a complaint to the Election Commission regarding the video clip and voice recording, which are allegedly being used to damage the image of our party,\u201d Debbarma said.<br><br>The TISF delegation urged the election authorities to examine the alleged incidents and take necessary action against activities that could affect communal harmony and the peaceful conduct of the VC elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agartala, September 19, 2026: The Tripura Indigenous Students Federation (TISF) submitted a memorandum to the State Election Commission at Gurkhabasti in Agartala on Saturday, alleging that certain individuals were attempting to create a communal atmosphere and disturb peace and harmony in the state ahead of the upcoming Village Council (VC) elections.
