{"id":26358,"date":"2026-09-17T13:48:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-17T13:48:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=26358"},"modified":"2026-09-18T04:13:19","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T04:13:19","slug":"clean-india-needs-public-participation-says-sudhangshu-das","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/09\/17\/clean-india-needs-public-participation-says-sudhangshu-das\/","title":{"rendered":"Clean India needs public participation, says Sudhangshu Das"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Agartala, September 17:<\/strong> Tripura SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das on Thursday called on people to take greater responsibility for maintaining cleanliness, saying a hygienic environment can be achieved only through sustained community participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das made the appeal at Santirbazar while inaugurating the <strong>Seva Sankalp Abhiyan<\/strong> at Mukut Auditorium. He also launched the South Tripura district-level <strong>Swachhata Hi Seva<\/strong> campaign by watering saplings at the programme venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emphasising that cleanliness extends beyond government programmes, the minister said citizens from all sections of society must contribute to sanitation efforts. He encouraged people to take part in cleanliness drives without compromising their regular professional and household responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das referred to the <strong>Swachh Bharat Mission<\/strong>, launched on October 2, 2014, and said the national initiative was aimed at translating Mahatma Gandhi\u2019s vision of a clean India into reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Highlighting developments under various sanitation programmes, he said toilets had been constructed for nearly 12 crore households across the country, with women being among the principal beneficiaries. He also pointed to steps taken to improve solid waste management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minister subsequently joined sanitation workers in the cleanliness campaign at Santirbazar and interacted with them during the drive. He also presented special gifts to sanitation workers of the Santirbazar Municipal Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan\u2019s community outreach, Das visited Santirbazar District Hospital and distributed fruits and sweets to patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">South Tripura Zilla Sabhadhipati Dipak Dutta, MLAs Pramod Reang, Mailayu Mog and Swapna Majumdar, Santirbazar Municipal Council chairperson Swapna Baidya, South Tripura District Magistrate Md Sajjad P, Santirbazar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dipika Gautam and social worker Dwipayan Chowdhury were among those present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programmes combined sanitation activities with social service, with the minister stressing the need for continued public involvement to strengthen cleanliness and hygiene initiatives in the district.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agartala, September 17: Tripura SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das on Thursday called on people to take greater responsibility for maintaining cleanliness, saying a hygienic environment can be achieved only through sustained community participation.
