Tripura, 15 Sep 2026<\/strong>: Tension prevailed in the West Hawaibari Kuki Colony area under Teliamura police station on Tuesday morning following allegations of theft and illegal drug-related activities. Four young men were reportedly detained by local residents, who later handed them over to the police.

According to local residents, the area had allegedly been witnessing incidents of theft and suspected drug sales for several months. Residents claimed that various items, including rubber sheets, household belongings and goats, had reportedly been stolen from the locality.

Locals said two youths were initially detained on suspicion of being involved in the alleged drug trade. During questioning, they reportedly mentioned the names of a local youth identified as Kalu and his brother. The two were subsequently detained by residents, taking the total number of youths detained to four.

Residents also claimed that several small containers allegedly used for drugs were recovered from the spot. According to one local resident, around five to six such containers were found during the incident.

In a video recorded during the incident, one of the detained youths identified himself as Liton Das. When questioned about the substance, he reportedly said that he brought it from Agartala\u2019s Durga Basti area for his own consumption and denied selling it. He further claimed that he had been consuming it for around four to five years.

A local resident alleged that the youth identified as Kalu had been involved in alleged drug sales and theft-related activities in the area for a long period. The resident claimed that villagers had been monitoring the situation for nearly seven to eight months and had previously caught and handed over another person, identified as Saurav, to the authorities over similar allegations.

The resident also expressed concern over what he described as a lack of strict action against alleged drug-related activities. He urged the police administration to investigate the source of the substances and identify the wider network allegedly supplying drugs to the area.

Following the incident, the four detained youths were handed over to Teliamura Police. Police reportedly took them into custody and initiated an investigation into the allegations and the materials recovered from the spot.

The allegations against the detained youths, however, have not yet been established. Their alleged involvement in drug-related activities, the nature of the recovered substances and the claims of theft will be confirmed only after a proper police investigation.

Residents of West Hawaibari Kuki Colony are now demanding strict action against anyone found involved in drug trafficking and theft in the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
