{"id":26303,"date":"2026-09-15T17:26:32","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T17:26:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=26303"},"modified":"2026-09-15T17:30:17","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T17:30:17","slug":"biplab-deb-facilitates-pmnrf-aid-for-soham-pauls-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/09\/15\/biplab-deb-facilitates-pmnrf-aid-for-soham-pauls-treatment\/","title":{"rendered":"MP Biplab Deb Facilitates PMNRF Aid for Soham Paul\u2019s Treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Agartala, September 15:<\/strong> Tripura West Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb has facilitated financial assistance of Rs 50,000 from the Prime Minister\u2019s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the advanced treatment of Soham Paul, a resident of Ramnagar in Agartala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Soham is currently receiving treatment at Tata Medical Centre in Kolkata. The Prime Minister\u2019s Office (PMO) conveyed the approval to the hospital\u2019s Director through an official letter dated September 7, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The assistance was sanctioned after Deb took up Soham\u2019s case with the PMNRF. The MP said he forwarded the application after being informed about the patient\u2019s need for specialised medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sanction, however, is subject to conditions specified by the PMO. The admissible assistance will be limited to 50 per cent of the actual treatment expenditure or Rs 50,000, whichever is lower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the approval, Deb expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the assistance to the patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to the Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, for sanctioning medical assistance of \u20b950,000 from the PMNRF to Shri Soham Pal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deb said the sanction came within a short period after the application was forwarded, and described the response as evidence of the Prime Minister\u2019s consideration of requests from families requiring financial support for critical medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the PMNRF has previously extended assistance to patients undergoing costly medical procedures and treatments. Such support, he added, can help families facing significant financial pressure because of serious health emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PMNRF provides financial relief in cases involving calamities and eligible medical emergencies. Assistance towards treatment is granted under prescribed guidelines and is subject to applicable conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Patients from Tripura have also received assistance from the fund in recent years for specialised treatment, providing support to families struggling to meet medical expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Soham\u2019s family, the latest approval is expected to reduce part of the financial burden associated with his treatment in Kolkata.
