Agartala, September 13:<\/strong> An investigation into the alleged daylight necklace-snatching of an elderly woman in Agartala has led police to detain one person and seize a motorcycle suspected to have been used in the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The case relates to an incident reported from the Jogendranagar-Bankumari area on September 11. Gita Das, who had stepped out for her morning walk with a neighbour, was allegedly targeted by two men travelling on a motorcycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to police, the motorcycle-borne men approached Das and allegedly snatched her necklace before speeding away. The woman subsequently went to the East Agartala Police Station and lodged a complaint approximately two hours after the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Following the complaint, investigators began collecting information about the suspected offenders and the motorcycle. CCTV recordings from the surrounding area were examined as part of the effort to establish the sequence of events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The footage showed two helmeted persons travelling on a motorcycle and helped investigators develop leads concerning the vehicle and the suspected offenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Police subsequently conducted an operation in the Radhanagar area based on the leads generated during the investigation. One person was detained during the operation, while the motorcycle suspected to have been used in the crime was also seized and impounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n East Agartala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Krishnadhan Sarkar confirmed the police action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sarkar said the CCTV footage was among the key pieces of evidence being examined in the case and confirmed that the motorcycle allegedly involved in the incident had been impounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Police are now questioning the detained person to ascertain his alleged role in the incident and gather information about the second rider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Investigators are also scrutinising other available evidence and following additional leads to establish the identities of the persons involved and determine their respective roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Officials said the probe is still in progress and further action will be taken on the basis of evidence emerging during the investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Agartala, September 13: An investigation into the alleged daylight necklace-snatching of an elderly woman in Agartala has led police to detain one person and seize a motorcycle suspected to have been used in the incident.
