Agartala, September 13:<\/strong> Tripura is set to strengthen its border-management efforts through closer coordination between the state administration, police and Border Security Force (BSF), with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha proposing a dedicated mechanism for joint monitoring and response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Saha said coordinated action among the agencies would be important for maintaining security along Tripura\u2019s international boundary with Bangladesh and for dealing with incidents in border areas more efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Chief Minister spoke to reporters after attending a blood donation camp organised by the Rotary Club of Aspiring Agartala in collaboration with the BSF at the BSF headquarters in Shalbagan. IG BSF Tripura Frontier Prince Rani was present during the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Saha said the proposed coordination committee would facilitate regular communication between the state administration, police and BSF. Such a mechanism, he said, could improve the exchange of information and enable agencies to respond more quickly to emerging situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Chief Minister also disclosed that a pilot project under the smart border initiative was already underway in Sepahijala district. The initiative is aimed at strengthening surveillance and improving the overall management of the international border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With Bangladesh bordering Tripura on three sides, Saha said sustained vigilance was essential to address challenges associated with the state\u2019s border areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He stressed the need for coordinated efforts to prevent smuggling, illegal activities and other forms of crime along vulnerable stretches of the international boundary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the Chief Minister, closer coordination would also help authorities identify potential security concerns at an early stage and take timely action.
