He was a veteran political figure who had served as an elected representative and remained actively associated with public and social causes for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Saturday, Dey\u2019s mortal remains were taken from <strong>GB Pant Hospital to the Tripura Legislative Assembly<\/strong>, where legislators and representatives of different political parties paid their last respects. His body was later taken to the <strong>Agartala Press Club<\/strong> and subsequently to <strong>Chandramahal<\/strong>, where leaders of the <strong>Tipra Motha Party<\/strong>, including senior leaders and TTAADC Chief Executive Member <strong>Runiel Debbarma<\/strong>, paid their respects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tipra Motha leader and MoS <strong>Brishaketu Debbarma<\/strong> expressed deep sorrow over Dey\u2019s death. He recalled Dey\u2019s association with the political organisation and said that he had contested the <strong>2023 Assembly election from the Mohanpur constituency<\/strong>. He extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tripura Pradesh Congress President <strong>Ashish Kumar Saha<\/strong> described Dey\u2019s death as deeply painful. Recalling his political career, Saha said Dey was elected as a <strong>Congress MLA in 1972<\/strong> and had remained closely involved in social service, public welfare and grassroots activities throughout his political life. He said Dey\u2019s demise has left the people of Tripura deeply saddened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TTAADC CEM <strong>Runiel Debbarma<\/strong> described Tapas Dey as a hardworking and popular leader. He recalled Dey\u2019s long association with politics and said that he had initially been with the Congress before joining the <strong>Tipra Motha Party<\/strong>. Debbarma said leaders, MLAs, MDCs and party representatives had gathered to pay their final respects to the veteran leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Senior Congress leader and MLA <strong>Sudip Roy Barman<\/strong> remembered Dey as a \u201ccolourful\u201d and gentle personality with extensive knowledge of politics and political developments. He said Dey had entered the state Legislative Assembly for the first time in <strong>1972<\/strong> as a dedicated Congress leader and later joined Tipra Motha. Roy Barman termed his death an <strong>irreparable loss to society<\/strong> and prayed for his soul\u2019s peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Ram Pada Jamatia<\/strong> said Dey had served the people of the then undivided South District during his tenure as a Congress legislator. He said representatives from the Congress, BJP, IPFT, Tipra Motha and other sections gathered at the Assembly to pay their last respects, describing Dey\u2019s demise as an irreparable loss to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chief Minister <strong>Dr. Manik Saha<\/strong> also paid tribute to the former MLA, recalling his long personal acquaintance with Dey. The Chief Minister said Dey had always remained connected with public welfare and worked to understand and address people\u2019s needs.
