Traffic officials said the permitted period is from 9 pm to 7 am, while the vehicles are expected to clear the roads after unloading.<br><br>Despite repeated instructions, several goods lorries are allegedly continuing to remain parked along important and busy roads during the daytime, causing traffic disruptions, particularly in the Motorstand\u2013Ramthakur Club\u2013Maharajganj Bazaar corridor.<br><br>The road is one of Agartala&#8217;s busiest stretches, with lorries arriving from different parts of the country carrying vegetables, onions, raw materials and other goods for wholesalers and traders in the Golbazar and Maharajganj areas.<br><br>During a fresh enforcement drive, traffic police took action against two goods vehicles allegedly parked illegally on the road near MBB Club and Ramthakur Sangha Club. The vehicles were reportedly standing on the roadway and obstructing traffic. Following the intervention, both vehicles were removed and taken to the AD Nagar Police Outpost for parking-related violations.<br><br>A traffic police official said the department conducts regular drives to keep the Motorstand-to-Ramthakur stretch free from congestion.<br><br>\u201cGoods vehicles have a designated time for loading and unloading. They are supposed to arrive at night, complete unloading and leave in the morning. However, some drivers are still violating the traffic rules and parking their vehicles on the road, creating congestion,\u201d the officer said.<br><br>The Traffic Department also said that discussions are being held regularly with the Golbazar business association and club authorities to find a permanent solution. Meetings are reportedly conducted at regular intervals to inform traders and other stakeholders about designated parking arrangements and timings.<br><br>According to officials, despite these discussions, some drivers continue to park their vehicles on the road and leave them unattended, creating difficulties for commuters.<br><br>With Durga Puja approaching, traffic management has become a major priority for the authorities as large numbers of people are expected to visit markets and commercial areas.<br><br>The government is also considering shifting wholesale traders and major stock points currently operating in the Golbazar area to other locations, which officials believe could help address the long-term traffic and parking problems.<br><br>The Traffic Department has warned that enforcement drives will continue and that vehicles found parked on roads beyond the permitted hours will face action under the law.<br><br>Authorities have also appealed to traders, warehouse owners, shopkeepers, transporters and associated organisations to cooperate with the traffic police to keep Agartala&#8217;s roads congestion-free, particularly during the upcoming festive season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agartala, 12 Sep 2026: Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, the Agartala Traffic Department has intensified enforcement against goods-carrying lorries being parked and involved in loading and unloading operations beyond the permitted hours, in a bid to ease traffic congestion across the city.
