Manipur, Sep 12, 2026<\/strong>: Security forces and police carried out a series of joint operations in Churachandpur district on Thursday, resulting in the arrest of three alleged armed cadres, the apprehension of a Myanmar national carrying suspected heroin, and the recovery of a substantial quantity of arms, ammunition and other military equipment.

Three Armed Cadres Arrested<\/strong>

During an operation in the general area of Munpi Village under Henglep Sub-Division, a combined team of Churachandpur District Police and 5 Assam Rifles apprehended three alleged armed cadres.

The arrested individuals were identified as Khual, 35, son of Songneilal of Munpi Village; Money Chiru, 30, son of Jonathan Chiru of Nungrai Village in Bishnupur district; and Thanglalmuan, 25, son of Kamneilun of Nghathal Village in Churachandpur district.

The operation resulted in the recovery of a significant quantity of arms and ammunition, including one 7.62 mm HKG-3 assault rifle, one 5.56 mm A1 assault rifle, one 5.56 mm M22 assault rifle and two 7.62 mm AK-47 rifles.

Security personnel also recovered seven magazines, 298 rounds of ammunition of different calibres and five tactical pouches.

Myanmar National Held With Suspected Heroin<\/strong>

In a separate operation, a joint team of Behiang Police and 37 Assam Rifles, while conducting routine patrolling near Border Pillar 41 on September 11, apprehended a Myanmar national identified as Haukimmang, 36, son of Khamsuanlian of Vanglai Village, Myanmar.

According to the security agencies, 11 soap cases suspected to contain heroin, weighing approximately 154 grams, were recovered from his possession.

Large Cache of Weapons Recovered From Thangjing Ridge<\/strong>

In another operation based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of illegal arms and ammunition in the Thangjing Ridge area, teams of Churachandpur District Police and 2 JAK LI conducted a joint search operation in the adjoining areas between Nalon and Thinghijang villages.

The operation led to the recovery of a sizeable cache of weapons and military equipment, including:<\/strong>

*1 \u00d7 MP5 automatic rifle with scope
*4 \u00d7 9 mm carbines with magazines
*2 \u00d7 pistols with magazines

*2 \u00d7 mortar bombs
*2 \u00d7 Pumpi
*4 \u00d7 Pumpi shells
*1 \u00d7 radio set
*2 \u00d7 BPJ harnesses
*1 \u00d7 pair of combat boots

The coordinated operations represent a significant security effort to detect and seize illegal arms and ammunition and prevent their potential use by armed groups in the region.
