Ramachandra Rao and Justice Biswajit Palit in WP(C)(PIL) No. 04 of 2026, on September 9, 2026.

According to the court order, 1,116 PG Teacher posts have fallen vacant due to retirement, resignation, death and termination of service. The court rejected the need for the State to recreate these posts and directed that the recruitment process for all 1,116 vacancies be commenced forthwith.

The court also took serious note of the 2,193 vacant Graduate Teacher posts, observing that only 230 posts had been sought to be filled.
