{"id":26151,"date":"2026-09-09T14:57:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T14:57:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=26151"},"modified":"2026-09-10T02:09:23","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T02:09:23","slug":"amc-boosts-cleanliness-lighting-for-durga-puja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/09\/09\/amc-boosts-cleanliness-lighting-for-durga-puja\/","title":{"rendered":"AMC Boosts Cleanliness, Lighting for Durga Puja"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Agartala, September 9:<\/strong> The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) is preparing to strengthen civic services across the city ahead of Durga Puja, with sanitation, road conditions, drainage and street lighting forming the key areas of focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The preparations were reviewed at a meeting held by the Corporation on Wednesday, where Mayor <strong>Dipak Majumder<\/strong> assessed the arrangements being made in different wards for the upcoming festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Majumder said maintaining a high standard of cleanliness would be among the Corporation\u2019s major responsibilities during Puja. He emphasised the need to keep public areas and important city stretches clean as residents and visitors are expected to move in large numbers during the celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AMC will increase street-lighting arrangements at selected locations and deploy additional workers in various wards. These personnel will oversee sanitation and other civic services and respond to requirements arising during the festive period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crowded areas and locations surrounding Puja pandals will also be monitored to facilitate the movement of visitors. The Corporation is looking to ensure that people can travel between different parts of the city and visit pandals with minimum inconvenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Infrastructure issues were also discussed during the meeting. The Mayor reviewed the status of drainage arrangements, road repairs, lighting facilities and cleanliness measures and said efforts are being made to finish ongoing road-related works before Durga Puja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Corporation also discussed its <strong>Sharad Samman<\/strong> programme. Majumder said the process for the programme is expected to be completed by October or by the first week of November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deputy Mayor <strong>Manika Das Dutta<\/strong>, AMC Commissioner <strong>Saju Wahid<\/strong> and other corporators were present during the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Agartala prepares for one of its busiest festive periods, the AMC is focusing on ensuring that essential civic infrastructure and public services are adequately maintained.
