Farmers are now devoting long hours to field maintenance, hoping to protect the crop through the final stages of cultivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For many cultivators, the present condition of the fields is encouraging. Regular rainfall has kept soil moisture at favourable levels and supported crop development. However, farmers remain cautious, pointing out that Aman paddy can still be affected by sudden changes in weather before it reaches maturity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heavy or prolonged rain, dry spells, strong winds, pests and crop diseases remain among the major threats. Farmers are consequently focusing on regular weeding, fertiliser application and preventive measures to minimise possible damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are satisfied with the condition of the crop at present,\u201d said Mahendra Debnath and Rajib Pal, farmers from Ghilatli. They said favourable rainfall had contributed to healthy growth and expressed hope that the harvest would meet household requirements and leave some surplus for sale in local markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For agricultural families, the Aman crop carries significance far beyond the farm. A successful harvest means food for the household, income from surplus produce and some relief from the growing expenses associated with cultivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet rising input costs have emerged as a major concern. Farmers said expenditure on labour, fertilisers, pesticides, irrigation and other agricultural requirements has increased considerably. As a result, even a good harvest may not provide adequate returns if market prices fall after harvesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cultivators are therefore seeking greater institutional support during the remaining crop cycle. They have called for more frequent visits by agricultural officials, timely technical guidance and immediate assistance in case of pest attacks or disease outbreaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Access to quality seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and other agricultural inputs is also a key demand. Farmers believe that ensuring these supplies at the right time could significantly reduce crop losses and improve productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The issue of post-harvest prices is equally important. Farmers fear that weak market rates could force some cultivators to sell their produce immediately after harvest, leaving them with limited bargaining power. They have urged the administration and agriculture authorities to strengthen procurement and market-support mechanisms and ensure remunerative prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the challenges, optimism currently outweighs anxiety in Kalyanpur&#8217;s farming villages. The healthy appearance of the paddy fields has given farmers renewed confidence, even as they remain aware that the crop will continue to face risks until it is harvested, dried and safely stored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The coming weeks are expected to bring a dramatic change to the countryside, as the present green fields gradually turn golden with ripening grain. For farming households, that transformation will carry hopes of improved food security, additional income and relief from financial pressures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Farmers are now keeping their expectations simple: stable weather until harvest, adequate sunshine for the grain to mature, sufficient moisture to sustain the crop and protection from storms, pests and diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether Kalyanpur&#8217;s green fields ultimately produce the bumper harvest farmers are hoping for will depend largely on conditions during these crucial final stages.
