{"id":25949,"date":"2026-09-04T14:57:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T14:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=25949"},"modified":"2026-09-04T14:58:27","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T14:58:27","slug":"72-hour-highway-rail-blockade-west-tripura-dm-holds-talks-with-returnee-militants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/09\/04\/72-hour-highway-rail-blockade-west-tripura-dm-holds-talks-with-returnee-militants\/","title":{"rendered":"72-Hour Highway, Rail Blockade: West Tripura DM Holds Talks with Returnee Militants"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Agartala, September 4:<\/strong> West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar held a day-long meeting with members of the Returnee Rehabilitation Committee amid the ongoing 72-hour blockade of the Assam-Agartala National Highway and railway tracks.<br><br>Speaking after the meeting, Dr. Bishal Kumar said the discussions were \u201cvery fruitful\u201d and that several of the demands raised by the former militants are already being addressed by the government, while work on some other issues is underway.<br><br>The District Magistrate said the administration requested the protesters to withdraw the blockade and assured them that their demands would be taken up for high-level discussion. He said the government would provide whatever is possible within the existing rules and regulations.<br><br>According to Dr. Kumar, the committee responded positively and said it would discuss the matter with its supporters before communicating a decision to the administration.<br><br>He noted that the issue involves seven groups and a large number of supporters, including members of the general public and tribal communities.<br><br>\u201cWe are continuously in contact with them and hope that the strike will end soon,\u201d the District Magistrate said.<br><br>Regarding the disruption caused to commuters, including the cancellation of trains, Dr. Kumar described the situation as unfortunate. He said essential vehicles, including ambulances, were being allowed to pass in several places, while police and administrative personnel remained deployed on the ground.<br><br>The DM appealed to the protesters to consider the difficulties faced by ordinary people and withdraw the blockade immediately.<br><br>However, he warned that if the blockade is not withdrawn, the administration would take legal action in accordance with the law.<br><br>The administration is now awaiting the final decision of the protesting groups following their internal discussions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agartala, September 4: West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar held a day-long meeting with members of the Returnee Rehabilitation Committee amid the ongoing 72-hour blockade of the Assam-Agartala National Highway and railway tracks.
