Kailashahar, September 4<\/strong>: A Class 9 student was allegedly stabbed by a Class 10 female student during the tiffin break at Vidyanagar Class XII School in Kailashahar, Unakoti district, triggering panic and tension on the school premises.

The injured student has been identified as 15-year-old Anirban Dhar, a Class 9 student of the school. According to the victim\u2019s family, Anirban was sitting and talking with two or three friends during the recess when an argument reportedly broke out involving a Class 10 girl.

The girl allegedly took out a sharp knife from her school bag and attacked Anirban in the neck\/shoulder area. He reportedly collapsed in a bloodied and unconscious state following the attack.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel reached the school after receiving the information and rescued the critically injured student. He was subsequently taken to Unakoti District Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors reportedly said the knife had penetrated deeply into the injured area.

Kailashahar Police have detained the 17-year-old girl in connection with the incident and initiated an investigation. According to police sources, the girl admitted to the attack. However, she reportedly claimed that stones were being thrown at her and that she was being subjected to eve-teasing, and said she acted in self-defence.

The girl also reportedly told police that she had ordered the knife online and carried it for self-protection.

The victim\u2019s father said the family is going to lodge a written complaint with the police and demanded action against the accused. He also alleged that the girl regularly carried a knife in her school bag.

The father said he was not aware of any prior personal relationship between his son and the girl, although they may have known each other as students of the same school.

Police are continuing their investigation to establish the exact circumstances that led to the stabbing. The incident has created tension in and around Vidyanagar School.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
