He made these remarks while addressing a state-level Tool Kit Distribution Programme held at Anandadhara Town Hall in Amarpur, Gomati district. The Chief Minister distributed tool kits to the trained Bru beneficiaries, launched the stipend disbursement process for trained candidates, and released a booklet published by the Directorate of Skill Development. During the event, a total of 1,877 tool kits and 255 driving licences were distributed. Additionally, stipends amounting to 91.08 lakh were provided to 4,554 trained beneficiaries at the rate of 2,000 each.<br><br> Addressing the gathering, CM Dr. Saha said that since the formation of the present government in 2018, both the Central and State Governments have been working towards ensuring the permanent rehabilitation and long-term welfare of the Bru-Reang community people. He further stated that rehabilitation is meaningful only when families become financially independent and capable of earning a dignified livelihood. The Chief Minister said that the tool kits provided today would enable beneficiaries to immediately utilize the skills acquired during training and begin generating income. Referring to the vision of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he said that the central objective is not only to train young people but also to connect those skills directly with employment and livelihood opportunities. The Directorate of Skill Development under the Industries and Commerce Department is implementing a special skill development programme in Bru settlemen colonies. The primary objective is to train at least one member from every Bru family in a marketable trade and make them capable of earning a livelihood. Training is provided free of cost within or near the settlement colonies so that beneficiaries do not have to leave their families or settlements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All eligible trainees receive tool kits upon completion of training, while those trained in driving are provided driving licences to help them secure employment immediately. Since 2024, under two phases of the programme, 5,121 Bru youths from 4,288 families have been trained in 41 different trades. A total allocation of 16.25 crore has been made for the initiative. The training covers sectors such as animal husbandry and agriculture, construction, textiles and handloom, transport, renewable energy, services, and small-scale food businesses. Women have shown significant participation in trades like tailoring, handloom weaving, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, and pickle making, helping many families gain a second source of income. The trades offered include tailoring, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, masonry, carpentry, electrical work, solar LED and solar PV installation, two-wheeler repair, barber services, traditional handloom, bamboo craft production, street food vending, and roadside food services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Ram Pada Jamatia and MLA Ranjit Das also addressed the programme. Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department, Kiran Gitte, delivered the welcome address. A documentary on Bru skill development initiatives was screened during the event. Among others present were Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy, MLA Jitendra Majumder, Gomati District Magistrate Rinku Lather, Director of Skill Development Pradip K., Superintendent of Police Anirban Das, and other officials.
