The inspection also focused on monitoring suspicious movements, traffic discipline, anti-social activities and the growing challenge of drug-related offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking during the inspection, the IG said the night patrol was part of routine policing aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and preventing unusual or suspicious activities. He stressed that the presence of senior police officers on the ground also helps motivate the police force and strengthens enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The IG said the overall law-and-order situation in Agartala remains safe and peaceful compared to many other cities. However, he expressed concern over reckless and over-speeding young bikers, who often put themselves and other road users at risk and can cause serious accidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasized that maintaining public safety requires continuous surveillance and regular enforcement rather than one-time drives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The officer also clarified that inspections in areas such as Sepahijala and Belonia were part of a routine three-to-four-day patrol covering different parts of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the interaction, the IG referred to a recent traffic incident near Radhanagar Motor Stand. According to him, a helmetless rider was travelling at high speed, overtook a police vehicle and, after dropping his wife, fled from the spot when police signalled him to stop. The incident occurred around half an hour before the interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding to questions about similar incidents near West Police Station, where some bikers allegedly shouted at police personnel before fleeing, the IG said policing depends significantly on cooperation from the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the police do not want to rely on excessive force and instead seek public cooperation in maintaining traffic discipline and law and order. However, he made it clear that strict action would be taken against those who deliberately violate the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The IG also highlighted Tripura&#8217;s improved law-and-order situation, stating that the state has emerged as one of the peaceful states in the Northeast.
