New Delhi, 3rd August 2026:<\/strong> Fresh off becoming the first Indian to win the World Junior Squash Championship, teenage sensation Anahat Singh says she is now shifting her focus to the professional circuit and the upcoming Asian Games.

Speaking after her historic title-winning campaign, Anahat reflected on the challenges she faced over the past four years before finally lifting the coveted trophy.

\u00ab”This tournament hasn’t always been the best for me for the last four years that I’ve played it. I’ve always come really close, but never managed to win it. I’m really glad that I was able to do it this year,” she said.\u00bb

Anahat also dismissed the notion that facing Egyptian players carries extra pressure, saying she has competed against them since the beginning of her squash journey.

\u00ab”I’ve grown up playing Egyptians since I started playing squash, so it doesn’t really affect me when I go on court. It’s just like playing any other opponent, no matter what the nationality is.”\u00bb

The young champion credited Indian squash legend Joshna Chinappa as one of her biggest inspirations.

\u00ab”I’ve grown up watching Joshna play tournaments and I’ve really been inspired by her. To achieve this after her is something that makes me really happy,” Anahat said.\u00bb

Looking ahead, the newly crowned world champion revealed that she is ready to transition fully into senior-level competition.

\u00ab”The tournament has just ended, so I’ll go back, discuss with my coaches, and start playing more senior events because I’m not a junior anymore. I want to gain more experience by travelling around the world and competing against the top players.”\u00bb

With the Asian Games firmly on her radar, Anahat said she will compete in two PSA professional circuit events before the continental showpiece.

\u00ab”I have two events in the PSA professional circuit before I go for the Asian Games. Right now, that’s my focus, but the Asian Games have been in my mind since the last edition ended. I’m building towards that.”\u00bb

When asked about the reception she received after returning home as world champion, Anahat summed it up in one word:
