Agartala, July 29:<\/strong> Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Wednesday launched a loan distribution programme for minority beneficiaries and announced that the state government has submitted a \u20b9322 crore proposal to the Centre for projects aimed at accelerating the socio-economic development of minority communities in the state.

Addressing the programme at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister said people of every religion are equal partners in Tripura’s development and stressed that the state’s strength lies in its unity in diversity. He added that the government’s development initiatives continue to be guided by the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”

The event, organised by the Tripura Minorities Cooperative Development Corporation Limited (TMCDCL), witnessed the distribution of loan cheques to beneficiaries from minority communities for higher education and business purposes. A total of 28 beneficiaries received loans worth \u20b964.93 lakh.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to minority welfare, Dr. Saha said both the Central and State governments are working to improve education, healthcare, financial self-reliance, women’s empowerment and security among minority communities. He stressed that transparency and good governance are essential for ensuring inclusive development and building public trust.

The Chief Minister said the proposed \u20b9322 crore development package has been sent to the Central Government for approval and is expected to support projects that will strengthen socio-economic opportunities for minority communities across Tripura. He added that financial assistance and access to loans can help beneficiaries become self-reliant and improve their quality of life.

Speaking at the programme, Minority Welfare Minister Shuklacharan Noatia said the government has expanded financial support for minorities through various Central and State schemes. He informed that minority students are now eligible for education loans of up to \u20b91 lakh under government initiatives, including the Chief Minister’s Minority Development Scheme.

Noatia also revealed that proposals for 55 additional welfare schemes have been submitted to the Centre to further improve the living standards of minority communities in the state.

The programme also featured the felicitation of Haj pilgrims from Tripura and the screening of a documentary on the Haj pilgrimage. Among those present were TMCDCL Chairman Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Tripura Waqf Board Chairman Mabasar Ali, Tripura State Haj Committee Chairman Shah Alam, former minister Billal Mia, Minority Welfare Department Special Secretary Nirmal Adhikari, and TMCDCL General Manager Sourav Alhasan.
