{"id":24351,"date":"2026-07-23T13:23:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T13:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/?p=24351"},"modified":"2026-07-23T13:23:39","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T13:23:39","slug":"congress-stages-protest-outside-cms-residence-demands-judicial-probe-into-dgp-anurag-dhankars-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aguli.in\/index.php\/2026\/07\/23\/congress-stages-protest-outside-cms-residence-demands-judicial-probe-into-dgp-anurag-dhankars-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Congress Stages Protest Outside CM\u2019s Residence, Demands Judicial Probe into DGP Anurag Dhankar\u2019s Death"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Agartala, July 23:<\/strong> The Tripura Pradesh Congress on Thursday staged a symbolic protest outside the official residence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, demanding an independent judicial investigation into the mysterious death of former Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar.<br><br>The demonstration was led by senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman, along with Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Ashish Kumar Saha and several party leaders and supporters.<br><br>Addressing the gathering, Sudip Roy Barman alleged that the state government has yet to order a proper investigation into what he described as the &#8220;unnatural and mysterious&#8221; death of the former DGP. He said several unanswered questions surrounding the circumstances of Dhankar&#8217;s death have created doubts and speculation among the public.<br><br>&#8220;The people of Tripura deserve to know what led to the unnatural death of the former DGP. Only a transparent investigation conducted under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Tripura High Court will inspire public confidence and uncover the truth,&#8221; Roy Barman said.<br><br>He further urged the Chief Minister to immediately constitute a judicial inquiry commission headed by a sitting High Court judge, warning against any delay that could result in the loss of crucial evidence.<br><br>&#8220;We have come to appeal to the Chief Minister through this protest. The investigation must begin without delay. It should not happen after all evidence has disappeared,&#8221; he added.<br><br>Responding to questions from the media, Roy Barman clarified that Thursday&#8217;s programme was a symbolic protest and warned that the Congress would intensify its agitation if the government failed to announce a judicial probe.<br><br>TPCC President Ashish Kumar Saha, along with other senior Congress leaders and party workers, also participated in the demonstration, reiterating the party&#8217;s demand for an impartial and credible investigation into the former police chief&#8217;s death.<br><br>The protest concluded peacefully after party leaders submitted their demand for a judicial inquiry, while maintaining that the Congress would continue its campaign until the government responds to their demand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agartala, July 23: The Tripura Pradesh Congress on Thursday staged a symbolic protest outside the official residence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, demanding an independent judicial investigation into the mysterious death of former Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar.
