Tripura, July 22:<\/strong> A 14-year-old minor was detained by police after allegedly being found carrying a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances at Babur Bazar, raising fresh concerns over the possible use of children by drug trafficking networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police sources, officers from Irani Police Station received specific intelligence on Wednesday morning that a minor was being used to transport suspected narcotic substances. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, police intensified surveillance in the Babur Bazar area and launched a targeted operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the operation, police intercepted a 14-year-old boy and conducted a search. A bag in his possession allegedly contained a significant quantity of suspected narcotic substances, which were immediately seized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police said the minor broke down during questioning and reportedly stated that an unidentified individual had asked him to deliver the bag to another person. He claimed he had come to Babur Bazar solely to hand over the package when he was apprehended by the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the seizure, police registered the case and launched a detailed investigation to identify those behind the operation. Investigators are examining whether the minor was knowingly involved or was exploited by a larger drug trafficking network. Efforts are also underway to trace the individuals who allegedly instructed him and determine if an organized racket is operating in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operation was led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) and was carried out in the presence of the Second Officer of Irani Police Station, along with a large contingent of police personnel and TSR jawans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
