Agartala, July 10:<\/strong> Former Tripura Chief Minister and West Tripura Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb<\/strong> has utilised more than 93 per cent<\/strong> of the funds sanctioned under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS)<\/strong> over the past two years, significantly exceeding the national average, according to a press statement citing official data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Figures released by the West Tripura district administration<\/strong> show that Deb sanctioned Rs 10.44 crore<\/strong> for 32 development projects<\/strong> between the 2024\u201325 and 2026\u201327 financial years<\/strong>. Of these, work has commenced on 29 projects<\/strong>, with 15 already completed<\/strong>, while the remaining projects are progressing at various stages of implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the official records, approximately Rs 9.71 crore<\/strong> has already been spent out of the total sanctioned amount, translating into a 93.05 per cent utilisation rate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the 2024\u201325 financial year<\/strong>, Deb approved six projects<\/strong> with a total outlay of Rs 3.19 crore<\/strong>. More than 94 per cent<\/strong> of the allocated funds for these projects has already been utilised, reflecting steady execution of development works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the 2025\u201326 financial year<\/strong>, the Lok Sabha MP sanctioned Rs 6.51 crore<\/strong> for 23 projects<\/strong> under MPLADS. Among these, 12 projects have been completed<\/strong>, while several others are reported to be in advanced stages of execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the current financial year (2026\u201327)<\/strong>, Deb has approved three additional development projects<\/strong> worth Rs 72.55 lakh<\/strong>, which are presently in the initial phase of implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The MPLADS scheme enables Members of Parliament to recommend developmental works aimed at creating durable community assets and improving public infrastructure in their constituencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Official records also highlighted Deb’s performance during his tenure as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament<\/strong> from September 2022 to June 2024<\/strong>. During that period, he sanctioned 14 projects<\/strong> worth Rs 4.43 crore<\/strong> under MPLADS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The district administration’s data show that the entire sanctioned amount was utilised<\/strong>, achieving 100 per cent expenditure<\/strong> during his tenure in the Upper House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The figures reflect the pace of implementation of MPLADS-funded projects in West Tripura, covering works across multiple sectors, including public infrastructure and community development.
