At present, 1,509 people from 287 families are taking shelter in these camps.

Floodwaters have entered residential areas in Halaimura, Industry Para, Indira Colony, Tarapur, Taraninagar, and several other localities. Roads in many areas have also gone underwater, disrupting normal life and transportation.

Residents said the situation has deteriorated rapidly as continuous rainfall caused water levels to rise overnight. Many families were forced to evacuate with their livestock in the dark and move to safer locations.

Local resident Champa Dutta said floodwaters have submerged homes across Halaimura and Bhairabtali, affecting around 50\u201360 families, while roads have also been inundated.

Another resident, Sabita Shill, said floodwaters have reached the doorsteps of nearly every house, forcing dozens of families to move to relief camps. He claimed water levels continued to rise even after dawn, with hundreds of homes affected. Relief camps have been set up at schools, including KGCS School and the Girls’ School, while many displaced people have also taken shelter in the local market area.

The subdivision administration is closely monitoring the situation, with officials visiting affected areas and coordinating relief operations. Residents have been urged to remain alert and shift to safer places whenever necessary.

Authorities warned that if heavy rainfall continues and river levels rise further, the flood situation could worsen in the coming days.
