Held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the event featured live demonstrations, practical rescue techniques, and awareness sessions on how ordinary citizens can respond effectively during water-related emergencies before professional rescuers arrive.<br><br>Addressing the gathering, District Magistrate Megha Jain highlighted the importance of community preparedness. Drawing from her training experience in Odisha, she said local volunteers there are well-trained to respond immediately during floods and cyclones, often using simple household items such as bamboo poles and earthen pots to rescue people in distress.<br><br>She noted that Tripura has witnessed a significant number of drowning incidents, and timely action by trained community members can save many lives. &#8220;If we can respond immediately during such emergencies, we can prevent the loss of many precious lives,&#8221; she said.<br><br>The District Magistrate also praised the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), describing it as one of the country&#8217;s finest disaster response agencies.
