Tripura, 02 July 2026:<\/strong> Three minor girls from Tripura’s Dhalai district, who were allegedly lured away with the promise of jobs and taken to Gujarat, have been safely rescued in a joint operation by Dhalai Police (Tripura) and Gujarat Police. The accused has been detained, and the process of bringing both the victims and the suspect back to Tripura is currently underway.

According to police, the three girls, aged between 15 and 16 years, left their homes on Monday morning with a local youth identified as Mukesh Reang from the Ganganagar Police Station area. They were first taken to Agartala, then flown to Kolkata, and subsequently to Ahmedabad.

A missing complaint was lodged by the girls’ families at Ganganagar Police Station later that day. Since all three were minors, police immediately registered a kidnapping case and launched a coordinated operation. Senior officers, including officials from the Northern Range and Tripura Police Headquarters, coordinated with Gujarat Police to track the group’s movement using location-based services (LBS), boarding pass details, and photographs.

Police said that after receiving updated live location data late at night, officers from Adalaj Police Station in Ahmedabad traced and detained the group within about 30 minutes. The girls were safely taken into police protection.

An investigation team, including the Investigating Officer, women constables, and other police personnel, has already left Tripura to bring the victims and the accused back after obtaining transit remand from the local court in Gujarat.

During the rescue, police found that the girls were initially unwilling to return and reportedly told their parents through a video call that they wanted to stay in Gujarat for work. Investigators suspect the case could be linked to a larger human trafficking network, as such incidents are frequently reported in the region. Further investigation is underway to determine whether more individuals were involved.

Ganganagar Police Station has registered Case No. 04\/2026 under Sections 137(2) and 143(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
