Tripura, 22 June:<\/strong>\u00a0 Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday inaugurated a state-level workshop on the Solid Waste Management Act 2026 at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister stressed that cleanliness must become a daily habit and urged citizens to actively participate in maintaining a healthy and hygienic environment.

Dr. Saha said that administrative efforts alone are not enough to keep cities and towns clean. Public awareness and responsibility are equally important. He highlighted that improper disposal of garbage in drains is one of the major causes of waterlogging and emphasized the need for collective action to keep drainage systems clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was attended by representatives from Agartala Municipal Corporation, 20 urban local bodies, municipal council members, officials from various departments, clubs, and social organizations. During the event, the Chief Minister formally launched the \u201cSwachhata\u201d mobile application and reiterated the importance of continuing the spirit of the national Swachh Bharat Mission initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dr. Saha noted that modern waste management systems, specialized vehicles, and advanced drainage infrastructure are being introduced across urban areas of the state to improve sanitation and ensure the quick disposal of rainwater. He also appealed to public representatives to play a proactive role in building a cleaner Tripura.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister officially released a booklet to raise public awareness about the Solid Waste Management Act 2026.

Speaking as a special guest, Agartala Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder called for transforming the Clean Tripura initiative into a mass movement. Urban Development Department Secretary Milind Ramteke delivered a detailed presentation on the new waste management law. Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saju Vaheed A, and Urban Development Department Director Dr. Tamal Majumdar were also present.
