The delegation included JARC Working President Pasram Tripura (Thomas), JAC President Uttam Joy Reang, JARC General Secretary Ananta Kumar Jamatia, Vice President Binod Debbarma, JAC General Secretary Krishna Chandra Jamatia and other senior members.

According to the leaders, the meeting focused on the organizations’ nine-point charter of demands and the proposed indefinite blockade of the national highway and railway network scheduled for June 24. During the discussions, the Special Branch official reportedly informed them that a high-level meeting with government authorities could be arranged within the next two to three days to examine their grievances.

However, the delegation made it clear that the assurance of a future meeting alone would not be sufficient to call off the agitation.

“We have informed the authorities that until Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, personally intervenes and provides a clear assurance regarding our demands, we will not announce the withdrawal of our movement,” a representative of the organizations said.

The leaders stated that their nine-point demands were explained in detail during the meeting and that the Special Branch authorities assured them that the issues would be conveyed to higher levels of the government. Nevertheless, they stressed that the protest programme announced earlier remains unchanged.

They further said that if forthcoming discussions with senior government officials fail to produce a satisfactory outcome, the organizations will proceed with the indefinite blockade of both the Assam-Agartala National Highway and railway services from June 24.

Reaffirming their stand, the leaders said the movement would continue as per the original schedule and appealed to the people of Tripura to remain informed about the developments. They added that any decision regarding the future course of action would be communicated to the public after the outcome of the proposed high-level meeting becomes clear.

For now, JARC and JAC have maintained that their agitation remains firmly in place, with preparations continuing for the June 24 blockade unless a concrete solution emerges through government intervention.

Agartala, June 20: The Joint Action Rehabilitation Committee (JARC) and Joint Action Committee (JAC), representing surrendered insurgents of the pre-1998 and post-1998 groups, on Saturday reiterated their decision to go ahead with an indefinite blockade of the Assam-Agartala National Highway and railway lines from June 24, stating that their agitation will continue until they receive […]

[1

1174
post-23236","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-uncategorized
https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/564a074770eb17d36f3af441d462b8a2a809599748f74220740b1d3b52879fcf?s=96&d=https%3A%2F%2Faguli.in%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2024%2F07%2FPHOTO-2023-09-14-08-30-32-3.jpg&r=g
["GET
