The convicted woman, Jhuma Malakar, was found guilty under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for the murder of her husband, Mohan Malakar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on the night of May 27, 2023, at Jagannath Para under Chulbari Panchayat in Kamalpur subdivision. Mohan Malakar had dinner and went to sleep with his wife and their four-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following morning, Mohan&#8217;s mother, Surati Malakar, became concerned when her son did not wake up. Upon entering the room around 8:30 am, she found him lying motionless on the bed with visible dark marks on his neck. Her cries alerted neighbours, who rushed to the spot and informed the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police from Kamalpur Police Station arrived at the scene and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Subsequently, on May 30, 2023, the victim&#8217;s father, Mahesh Malakar, lodged a written complaint accusing Jhuma Malakar of murdering his son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on the complaint, Kamalpur Police Station registered Case No. 54\/2023 under Section 302 IPC. The investigation was conducted by Sub-Inspector Debabrata Dutta, who later submitted a chargesheet before the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the trial, the prosecution examined 12 witnesses. After considering the evidence and witness testimonies, the court found Jhuma Malakar guilty of the offence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to rigorous life imprisonment, the court imposed a fine of \u20b95,000 on the convict.
