The discussions are expected to focus on organisational strengthening, recent election outcomes, and the party’s roadmap ahead.

Addressing the gathering, CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby said the state committee meeting would continue for two days and that the party would announce its decisions after the deliberations conclude.

“Today, the state committee meeting of the party has commenced here, which will continue for two days. Once the meeting is over, we shall share the decisions that the party has taken,” Baby said.

Describing the significance of the meeting, CPI(M) Tripura State Secretary and Politburo member Jitendra Chaudhury said that although it is a routine state committee meeting, the presence of senior national leaders underlines its importance.

According to Chaudhury, extensive discussions will be held on the party’s future course of action, including an assessment of its performance in the recently concluded elections in five states. Leaders will also deliberate on the party’s role in the changing political landscape and ways to strengthen its political interventions.

State-specific issues are also expected to figure prominently during the discussions. Chaudhury acknowledged that the party’s performance in the recently held Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections was not satisfactory and said a detailed review would be conducted. Preparations for the upcoming Village Committee elections will also be discussed.

“In our party, both victories and defeats are analysed critically. We do not take any electoral outcome at face value,” Chaudhury said.

On the INDIA bloc, he said the alliance was formed with the broader objective of challenging and defeating the BJP. Discussions during the meeting are also likely to cover future political adjustments and the alliance’s strategy going forward.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday began its two-day state committee meeting in Tripura, with senior national and state leaders gathering to deliberate on the party’s future strategies, electoral performance, and evolving political dynamics in the country.
