Agartala, June 14:<\/strong> In a significant political development, candidates backed by the Opposition-supported Save Constitution Forum<\/strong>, comprising members aligned with the CPI(M) and Congress, registered an impressive performance in the Tripura Bar Association elections held on June 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the results declared late Saturday night, Pritha Deb Paul<\/strong> and Bhaskar Debbarma<\/strong> emerged victorious in the two most important posts of the association, securing the positions of President<\/strong> and Secretary<\/strong> respectively. The newly elected executive committee will serve a two-year term and oversee administrative affairs and legal advocacy initiatives for the legal fraternity in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pritha Deb Paul won the President\u2019s post by polling 186 votes<\/strong>, defeating her nearest rival Mrinal Kanti Biswas<\/strong>, who secured 165 votes<\/strong>. Other candidates in the fray, Subrata Debnath<\/strong> and Tapan Saha<\/strong>, received 158<\/strong> and 42 votes<\/strong> respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the post of Vice-President (General)<\/strong>, Jiban Krishna Sen<\/strong> emerged victorious with 221 votes<\/strong>, ahead of Sanjoy Saha<\/strong> (175 votes) and Daniel Debbarma<\/strong> (124 votes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A decisive victory was recorded in the contest for Secretary (General)<\/strong>, where Bhaskar Debbarma<\/strong> secured an impressive 298 votes<\/strong>, comfortably defeating Bidyut Sutradhar<\/strong>, who polled 177 votes<\/strong>. Raghunath Mukherjee<\/strong> finished third with 68 votes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the reserved categories, Mallika Saha<\/strong> was elected Assistant Secretary (Women Reserve)<\/strong> with a commanding 319 votes<\/strong>, defeating Chaitali Bhattacharjee<\/strong>, who secured 207 votes<\/strong>. The post of Assistant Secretary (General)<\/strong> went to Bhabani Ranjan Bhattacharjee<\/strong>, who garnered 219 votes<\/strong>, surpassing Mintu Debbarma<\/strong> (192 votes) and Mridul Kanti Arya<\/strong> (101 votes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the elected executive committee members in the Women Reserve category, Ruthi Debbarma<\/strong> topped the list with 322 votes<\/strong>, followed by Likha Bhowmik<\/strong> (280) and Bhandari Reang<\/strong> (237).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the General Category, Subir Saha<\/strong> secured the highest number of votes in the entire election with 342 votes<\/strong>. Other successful candidates included Niladri Mukherjee<\/strong>, Debabrata Debnath<\/strong>, Debjyoti Debnath<\/strong>, Anirban Lodh<\/strong>, Arpan Das<\/strong>, and Kishalay Roy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of 601 registered voters<\/strong>, 520 exercised their franchise<\/strong>. A total of 34 candidates contested for 15 posts<\/strong>, making the election one of the most keenly contested in recent years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
