Kailashahar, Tripura | Correspondent: Anupam Pal<\/strong>, 14 June<\/strong>: World Blood Donor Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Unakoti Kalakshetra in Kailashahar on Sunday. The event was organized by the Kailashahar Blood Donors Association with the support of the Unakoti District Committee of the Tripura Working Journalists Association and the 28 Assam Rifles Battalion, Radhanagar.

The programme was attended by Unakoti District Magistrate and Collector Megha Jain as the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Chapala Debray, Dr. Sandeepan Bhattacharjee, Dr. Rahul Varghav, Association President Anupam Pal, Secretary Subhashis Choudhury, senior member Shashanka Sen, and adviser Sanjib Choudhury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the District Magistrate and other dignitaries. Participants also paid tribute to Karl Landsteiner by offering floral tributes to his portrait.

Delivering the welcome address, Secretary Subhashis Choudhury highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and urged people from all sections of society to come forward and donate blood regularly. The programme was conducted by noted poet Satyajit Dutta.

As part of the celebration, 20 social and voluntary organizations from Unakoti district were felicitated for organizing blood donation camps at different times. In addition, 80 voluntary blood donors who had helped save the lives of critically ill patients through their donations were honoured with special recognition.

Speakers at the event emphasized that blood has no substitute and that a single voluntary donation can save a life. They stressed the need to transform regular blood donation into a mass social movement.

The programme concluded in a festive atmosphere, with 82 voluntary donors donating blood during the event. The Kailashahar Blood Donors Association also presented commemorative mementos to the Unakoti District Administration, the 28 Assam Rifles, and the Tripura Working Journalists Association in recognition of their support and contribution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
